longest day of work

so the longest day of work is supposedly the first day back from vacation.

yup. it's only 1 pm.

i could've sworn 8 hours passed already.

i am not an architect, nor do i claim to be one. i am simply a monkeyboy working for the man, struggling through all the drama that surrounds the beautiful world of architecture.

i am not an architect, nor do i claim to be one, like most people do right after architecture school. i am simply a monkeyboy working for the man, struggling through all the drama that surrounds the beautiful world of architecture. i went to school for 5 years dammit! what did i get myself into.... please share your stories, comments,and thoughts.

architect- one who goes through 5 years of school, at least 3 years of work experience, and passes 9 exams (10 if in california), and works long hours, deserves more pay, and whose "self image is lower than their public image."

cad monkey- one who draws on Autocad ALL DAY LONG, aka drafters.

cd's- refers to construction documents which are drawings, usually drawn by a cadmonkey, that shows the design and construction of a building, which doesn't matter because the contractor will build whatever he/she wants.

client- the "real" boss, "real" head honcho, the person who signs the check so that the man can put food on his table.

consultants- refers to engineers (structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, etc.), interior designers, and other professionals who usually hold up a project because they take too long to submit their drawings, leaving the architect high and dry come permit time.

contractor- one who is suppose to build what the architect designs.

designer- one who is involved in the design process. may also refer to someone who is not a licensed architect, but calls themself a designer because it sounds good, but does not neccessarily do any design whatsoever.

the man- the boss, head honcho, the person who signs your check so that you can put food on your table.

pm- refers to project manager. usually thinks he/she can design, but should really concentrate on "managing" the project instead.

project architect- basically a pm, but a licensed architect, and is able to oversee the design process, unlike a pm.

monkeyboy- one who does whatever the man tells him/her to do, usually half-ass.

yesman- a monkeyboy who doesn't say "no" to whatever the man tells him/her to do, usually a kiss ass.
